Frequently Asked Questions

Are we currently taking on new clients?

Absolutely! We welcome new clients, though availability is limited.

Do we accept insurance?

Our office operates on a direct billing system, meaning we do not accept or contract with health insurance providers. However, clients with Out-of-Network benefits in their insurance policies may be eligible for direct reimbursement from their insurer. We encourage you to consult with your insurance provider to understand your benefits.

Can I use my Out-of-Network insurance benefits with a receipt provided?

Most likely, yes. To confirm, please contact your insurance provider by calling the customer care number on your insurance card's back. Ask about your Out-of-Network benefits. For your convenience, the receipts I provide will include necessary information such as your legal name, date of birth, dates of the sessions, my diagnosis, our office's EIN, and a detailed fee ledger. Please note that no additional Protected Health Information (PHI) beyond these six elements will be included on the receipt to protect your privacy. Ensure your insurance provider will accept this documentation for reimbursement purposes.

Do we do Telehealth or In-person?

Both! Telehealth is certainly here to stay, but I also provide in-person therapy in West Los Angeles, CA. On the fence between therapy in-person or online? Check out My Case for Telehealth on my blog.

How often would our sessions be?

I generally schedule sessions on a weekly basis, consistently at the same time each week. This frequency tends to be effective for many individuals in alleviating distress and tackling their issues. However, depending on the nature and severity of the concerns being addressed, it may be beneficial to meet more frequently. Our 20-minute consultation will allow us to outline a personalized plan for our sessions, ensuring we set the pace and frequency that best supports your journey.

How long does therapy typically last?

I approach therapy as a journey rather than a treatment with a predetermined conclusion, favoring a long-term methodology. However, the duration of therapy varies greatly depending on each individual's needs and the specific challenges they face. Together, we can develop a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your personal goals and circumstances. For those interested in a more concise timeframe, I offer a 12-week intensive program specifically designed for Queer men, which might align with your needs if you're seeking short-term therapy.

How is billing handled?

For billing, we utilize a secure application named IVY PAY. This ensures a smooth and secure transaction process for our services. To get started with IVY PAY, they've prepared a guide that walks you through setting up your account at no extra cost. What is the 20-minute phone Consultation for?

Consider the phone consultation as an opportunity for us both to explore compatibility. It's essentially a “test drive” to determine if your needs align with my expertise and if my approach suits your needs. During this call, we can also address any logistical questions you might have that haven't been covered in this FAQ.
